Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is responding positively to treatment, after being admitted to hospital with COVID-19 infection, Russia Today (RT) reported, according to a presidential source.

"The president is responding positively to the treatment plan and his health is steadily improving. He is very optimistic, as he has begun his recovery phase," the source told RT.

Recently, rumors have spread like wildfire about the death of the Algerian President.

It is worth mentioning that, earlier this month, the Algerian presidency announced that Tebboune tested positive for coronavirus, adding that his health condition is gradually improving as he receives treatment in a German hospital.

Tebboune became the first president of an Arab country to contract the deadly virus.

“The Algerian president continues to receive treatment in a specialized German hospital after catching the Covid-19 illness and is gradually recovering,” the statement read.

On October 24th, the president entered a self-quarantine for five days after contacting many officials working in the Presidency Headquarters who had symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
