Algeria ended Nigeria hopes of winning the fourth Africa Cup of Nations title as they reached a first final since 1990 with a hard-fought semi-final Victory.

Riyad Mahrez's 95-minute late goal gave them the victory after he fired a left-foot shot from a free kick.

Ekong's 40-minute own goal gave Dessert Warriors the lead. Nigeria's Striker Odion Ighalo equalized the scoring in the 72nd minute when the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology was used to award a penalty to the Super Eagles.

Midfielder Ismaël Bennacer came close to put Desert Warriors ahead again after hitting the bar through a left-foot shot from the outside of the box in the 91st minute.

Algeria now will play against Senegal in the final game of AFCON on Friday, July 19 at Cairo Stadium (21:00).

It will be the second clash between both teams as they met before in the group stage when Desert Warriors pulled off a 1-0 victory over Teranga lions.
