Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has turned over his cell phone to authorities who are looking into the fatal shooting on the New Mexico set of the "Rust" movie.

The tragedy occurred on October 21, 2021 while actors were rehearsing for the movie at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe when one round was accidentally discharged from a loaded prop gun that the actor had been told was a cold or unloaded weapon.

The shooting killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza on the set of “Rust“.

A search warrant for Baldwin's iPhone was issued in December to seize Baldwin’s Apple iPhone to examine text messages, email correspondence, social network communications, browser activity, and other information stored on the device.

The Santa Fe County, New Mexico, sheriff's office had said earlier this week that it was still trying to obtain the device from the actor.
