Al-Tanoura Egyptian Heritage Dance Troupe Participates in Int'l Festival in Uzbekistan

The opening ceremony of the Lazgi International Dance Festival has been held at the square near the Kunya-Ark citadel of the famous Itchan Kala complex in the old town of Khiva, Uzbekistan.

The festival will run until April 30.

Large-scale preparations have been carried out for the festival in Khorezm region, Uzbekistan. Experienced directors, composers, artists, famous dancers, qualified creative workers of Uzbekistan are involved in its organization.

Exhibitions dedicated to dance art, demonstrations of national costumes, handicrafts, works of fine and applied art, and sculptures is being held in the Ichan Kala complex. A book fair will also take place.

Over 175 masters of dance art, professional dance groups, art scholars, well-known representatives of the cultural sphere and media workers from 30 countries, including Egypt, are taking part in the festival.

Egypt is represented at the festival by the Tanoura Dancing Troupe of the Ministry of Culture.

The competition is judged by a jury, which includes 6 experienced, professional specialists. 13 art scholars from 11 countries have arrived in Khiva to attend the International Scientific and Practical Conference.

Representatives of different nationalities and peoples are performing national songs, melodies and dances. The “Lazgi” dance performed by famous artists is calling everyone to dance.

As was reported, in the framework of the festival an International Scientific and Practical Conference will be held on “The place of Uzbek National Dance in the World Dance Art”. It will be attended by masters of dance art, musicologists and art historians, famous artists, leading experts and honored guests from foreign countries.

In 2019, the Khorezm dance Lazgi was inscribed to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as an element of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
