Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) denied the news circulating on social media that former sheikh of Al-Azhar Mohamed al-Ahmadi Ibrahim al-Zawahiri is the uncle or grandfather of Al-Qaeda former Leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri.
The observatory stated that Sheikh al-Zawahiri is definitely not his uncle, as it appears from the name. He is also not among his ancestors; as it would have been found in his name, which is Ayman Mohamed Rabei Mustafa Abd al-Karim al-Zawahiri.

The observatory pointed out that even if the late imam was Ayman’s relative; that does not offend him, stating that many righteous family members emerged from a disobedient branch that insulted their ancestry and made their name a stain on the forehead of history, pointing out to a Quraysh leader “Abu Lahab”, who descended from Banu Hashim of the prophet Mohammed.
President Joe Biden on Monday evening announced a CIA drone strike killed Alqaeda Leader in Kabul. Two blade-fitted Hellfire missiles fired from a drone killed Zawahiri while he stood on balcony of Taliban home, ending two-decade hunt for 9/11 mastermind.
