On Sunday, Al Ahly youngsters managed to earn an impressive 3-0 win over Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League’s 28th round.
The Red Devils had a good start to the game with a young energetic squad and created multiple opportunities in the opening 30 minutes but couldn’t find the target.
Despite missing a clear-cut chance minutes earlier, 20-year-old forward Ahmed Sayed Gharib found the back of the net after a well-constructed move from Al Ahly.
Aliou Dieng’s through ball found Karim Fouad who made an important touch to set up a free Gharib, who tapped home his first senior goal for the club.
The visitors managed to double their advantage at the stroke of half-time following a stunning solo effort from Ziad Tarek.
Al Ahly continued their dominance after the break as Mohamed Ashraf’s delightful through ball found Gharib’s well-placed header to complete his brace and score his side’s third of the evening.
Ittihad of Alexandria were reduced to 10 men late in the game with Ghanaian midfielder Moro Salifu receiving his second yellow card.
Notably, Al Ahly Club president Mahmoud El-Khatib had revealed that Al Ahly will play their remaining league games with youth players as senior players are set to get rested for the new season.
As a result, Ricardo Soares left out club captain Mohamed El-Shenawy as well as Ayman Ashraf, Yasser Ibrahim, Ali Maaloul, Hamdy Fathi, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, and Walid Soliman.
