The CAF had announced on Tuesday that Al Ahly of Egypt will face either APR F.C or US Monastir in the last 32 of the tournament.
The Red Devils will kick off their adventure in the Champions League from the last 32 as they sit first in the CAF’s standings for clubs.
Al Ahly are now third in the Egyptian League as their hopes in claiming the title became very weak.
After winning two consecutive CAF Champions League title, they failed to set up a record for the third one in a row as they suffered a 0-2 defeat by Wydad in the last edition final.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly failed to claim the Egypt Cup title after being beat by their arch rivals Zamalek 1-2.
Ahmed Sayed Zizo opened the scoring with a brilliant header from inside the box.
Emam Ashour cented his side’s lead in the 30th minute after a stunning one-two pass with Zizo, and the latter curled a right-footed effort into the back of the net.
After the break, Hossam Hassan pulled one back for the Red Devils but it was not enough for them to win the game.
