Cairo giants Al Ahly have been shortlisted for the CAF Club of the Year award following another impressive year in African competitions.

The Red Devils had defeated Raja Casablanca on penalties in December of last year to win the 2021 CAF Super Cup.

They have also dominated the CAF Champions League, reaching the final of the competition in the last three years.

A 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Zamalek in 2020 followed by a 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs a year later earned Al Ahly back-to-back Champions League titles.

However, they failed to make it three in a row after suffering a defeat against Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in controversial circumstances.

CAF decided to hold the game in Casablanca just weeks before the showdown giving Wydad the home advantage in the final.

Al Ahly will be facing tough competition from Moroccan duo Wydad Casablanca and CAF Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane.
