Prominent TV anchor and former Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Shobir said that Al Ahly board of directors would  request the country's football governing body to lift the penalties imposed on its players.

Harsh penalties were imposed on Al Ahly and Zamalek players after the fight broke out following the Egyptian Super Cup match in the United Arab Emirates.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) decided to suspend Al Ahly's midfielder Mahmoud Kahraba, Zamalek's midfielder Emam Ashour and the White Knights official Ahmed Zaher till the end of the ongoing season with fine of EGP 100,000 for each.

Also, the White Knights' captain Mahmoud Shikabala has been banned for eight matches with a fine of EGP 100,000, while Zamalek left-back Abdalla Gomaa has been suspended for three encounters with a fine of EGP 50,000.

The Red Devils players Yasser Ibrahim and Junior Ajayi have also been banned for two games with a fine of EGP 50,000.

During his radio Program, Shobir said the meeting of Al Ahly's board of director will be held to respond to these penalties, noting that the Red Devils will submit an official request to lift these bans on its players.
