Afghan citizens doubted the news of the killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri by a US drone strike on the balcony of his house, after he hid for months in the heart of the Afghan capital. It’s just an advertising campaign.
“We were told by a very extensive propaganda campaign in the past that did not bring us any truth,” said Fahim Shah, an Afghan citizen who lives in Kabul.
Shah added that he didn’t think he was actually killed here.
The Afghan Interior Minister denied information about a drone strike on a site in Kabul on Sunday, noting that a missile had targeted an “empty house” in the capital.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid posted a tweet on Tuesday morning about an “air strike” carried out by American “drones.”
