At least 5 people were killed and 7 others injured in an attack on a Sikh temple in the Afghan capital, Kabul, according to Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday.

The agency stated that there were three attackers among the dead.

Pictures taken after the attack showed that the temple building was completely destroyed.

Local media reported that several explosions took place in the area around the temple, which is called "Gurudwara" by the Sikhs, and the shooting continued.

A video circulated on social media, showed a column of smoke rising from the building.

A group of "armed" rebels had thrown hand grenades, before entering the temple. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

It is noteworthy that the militants of the terrorist organization ISIS claimed responsibility for a number of bloody attacks on Hindu and Sikh areas in Afghanistan in the past.
