Afghan media reported, Monday morning, that the death toll from the Afghan army raid on the southern province of Nimroz has risen to 18.

"Tolo News” quoted local Afghan authorities as saying that the number of victims has risen to at least 18 people, while dozens were wounded in an air strike in Nimroz province, southwestern Afghanistan.

In the same context, the head of the regional council in the region, Muhammad Nas, said that among the dead were eight children, seven women, and men, while all the victims were from the same family.

The Afghan government is investigating an air raid launched by the army on the southern Nimroz region, which local officials said killed 14 civilians.

Government officials confirmed the attack occurred Saturday and the preliminary information showed that all the dead were belonging to Taliban insurgents who are fighting the Afghan security forces, according to Reuters.
