AFCON Teams' Prize Money for Tournament Revealed

The African Cup of Nations came to an end on Friday as Algeria was crowned the champions at the Cairo Stadium. Now that the tournament is over, the earning of each nation taking part in the tournament was revealed by CAF President Ahmed Ahmed.

This year marks the highest year in which the participating teams will earn in the history of the AFCON: approximately 25 million dollars.

Ahmed revealed that the AFCON 2019 winner will receive 4.5 million dollars, as the second place holders (Senegal) will earn 2.5 million dollars. Third and Fourth place holder which are Nigeria and Tunisia respectively will earn 2 million dollars.

Teams eliminated at the quarter finals will earn 800 thousand dollars, while teams who exited from the last 16 like hosts Egypt will earn 600 thousand dollars.

Third place holders in the group stages will earn 575 thousand dollars, while fourth place holders will earn 475 thousand dollars.
