AFCON 2019 – Suya.. Beef skewers Recipe from Nigeria

AFCON 2019 - While Egypt is hosting the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations; one of the most powerful football championships world-wide, (SEE) shed light on the most famous dishes of the 24 countries taking part in the tournament.

Starting with the Nigerian Cuisine, it’s characterized by its delicious meat recipes and Nigerian people tend to like boneless beef, goat meat and chicken. Here’s one of the most popular recipes there called Suya.

Ingredients

1 ½ kilos beef

3 oz roasted peanuts with skin "powder"

1 tbsp ground pepper

2 tsp smoked paprika

1 tbsp garlic powder

½ tsp ginger powder

½ tsp nutmeg, freshly grated

1 tbsp onion powder

1 tbsp white pepper

1 beef or chicken bouillon cube “Maggi”, grind to powder

4 tbsp vegetable oil

Salt and cayenne pepper, as desired

10 skewers

Recipe

Preheat the grill to 232 C and add some oil.

In a bowl, add garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, ginger, nutmeg, white pepper, cayenne pepper, peanuts and bouillon cube and stir all components well.

Dry the meat with a paper towel then slice it in to pieces of about 1 to 2 inches with a thickness of 1 inch.

Thread 4 pieces of meat per skewer and rub them with the spice mixture.

Place the skewers on the greasy grill while brushing oil on the meat then set from 12 to 15 minutes before enjoying the yummy Nigerian Suya
