About 100 civilians remain inside the besieged Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, Ukraine, according to the regional administration.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the Head of the regional administration, said on Monday evening that the civilians are still inside the plant, in addition to 100,000 people still in the hard-hit coastal city.

"It is difficult to determine which of them wants to leave the city," he added in comments reported by Ukrayinska Pravda newspaper.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said at the weekend that all women, children, and elderly civilians had left the steel plant.

Ukrainian units at the Azovstal plant are withstanding Russian attacks.
