Abou El Enein: Egypt Is Libya's Strong Neighbor

President of the Egyptian-European Council Mohamed Abou El Enein said on Wednesday Egypt is a strong neighbor for Libya, managing to gather regional and international powers to put an end to the violence in Libya.

Abou El Enein was addressing a symposium, titled "Egypt, Libya, and Berlin Conference" in the presence of French Ambassador in Cairo Stéphane Romatet and the Belgian and Brazilian ambassadors in Cairo.

The meeting aims to discuss what could be done after the Berlin Conference on Libya, which was held on Sunday, the renowned businessman stressed.

The honorary president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean regretted over the raging conflicts and clashes, which occur in Libya.

Abou El Enein expressed his satisfaction for the Berlin Conference's outcomes, pointing out that those outcomes need to be activated and implemented to reach radical solutions.

He asserted that the European Union (EU) has an important role in resolving the crisis and a clear stance due to the dangers, which threaten Europe.

Abou El Enein hailed the Egyptian diplomatic efforts, which succeeded in showing Egypt's stance that stressed the importance of a ceasefire in the war-torn country.

He also praised the Egyptian Armed Forces' potentials in protecting the long borders with Libya, thanking President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his keenness to solve the issue.

During his speech, he pointed out to the Libyan people and their tendency for peace, citing how they are imposed to enter into clashes and militias.

He affirmed that global powers should manage and monitor the security, economic, and political solutions to be implemented.

Abou El Enein attributed the Libyan crisis to the interference of regional powers into the North African country by sending mercenaries and weapons to the militias there.

He further wished that the governments and parliaments should interact together to cover all the issue's dimensions and punish traitors.
