Abdul Ghaffar, Abdel Baki discuss cooperation on higher education

CAIRO, AUG 29 (SEE)- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khalid Abdul Ghaffar received on Tuesday Azhari Omar Abdel Baki, Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to discuss cooperation between the two countries.

Abdul Ghafar pointed to the necessity for boosting cooperation through professors and student exchanges programs, in addition to organizing joint conferences that serve the objectives of development plans including agriculture, water, energy, social sciences, and humanities.

The two sides agreed to increase the number of scholarships as well as providing training opportunities for assistant professors in the fields of management, entrepreneurship, and applied sciences.

They also agreed to organize the Nile Valley Students Festival, which will include artistic and sports activities, in addition to establishing a joint research fund linking universities to the labor market.

For his part, Abdel Baki praised Egyptian efforts for supporting Sudanese students and welcomed the return of Cairo University's branch in Khartoum.
