Abdel Ghaffar: Health Care Units Receive 4.87 Mln Women Yearly

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting on Sunday evening to follow up on the process of work in health care and nursing sector and medical services provided in health units throughout Egypt, by the general office of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

This came in the presence of Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives, Wael Abdel Razek, Head of the Healthcare and Nursing Sector, and Dr. Nevin El Nahas, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Support and Director of the Technical Office.

Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the health programs provided within the health care and nursing sector, with 5.414 units throughout Egypt, stressing the importance of every citizen obtaining the best level primary health care services.

The minister discussed the medical services provided in the health units within the presidential initiatives to care for public health, in addition to health programs for youth and geriatrics, pointing out that 4,087,326 visits were made to antenatal women in primary health care units during 2020.

The minister directed the necessity periodic follow-up for women and the health program provided both before and after birth, in addition to nutritional programs for children.

He, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, directed concerned officials to have a twinning contract between health units and care homes for children and the elderly to provide all medical services and vaccination programs for children, in addition to the services of presidential initiatives to take care of public health.

He also directed them to send oversight and follow-up teams to the workflow of these units and work centers throughout Egypt, especially in regions and villages, to follow up on achieving the goal of medical services and for citizens.

The citizens will obtain services at the best level, and to overcome many challenges that may hinder the progress of work, as these units contribute to obtaining citizens have access to basic medical services.

Abdel Ghaffar praised the workflow in the nursing sector in the health directorates, sectors and various organizations, where the number of nursing workers in the nursing sector is 200 thousand and 573 graduates of nursing colleges, health technical institutes and institutes affiliated with universities.

The minister pointed out to the approval of donors for training programs and workshops in cooperation with the General Nursing Union.
