Boris Johnson, leader of the ConservativeS party which acquired the absolute majority following the parliamentarian election run in the United Kingdom (UK) yesterday, affirmed that his country is going to walk out of the European Union (EU) by the end of next January.

He pointed out that the results of the election terminate speculations on conducting a new referendum on the future form of relationship between the United Kingdom and the EU.

The Conservatives won 302 seats in the Commons meanwhile the Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn harvested only 263 seats.

Corbyn declared after the election that he won’t lead the party over the next election.

Johnson added that the electors authorized the government to lead the country out of the European bloc.

The government will go straight to implement the Brexit plan during days to come.

He told the reporters that the government of the Conservatives had a strong mandate of the electors to lead the country out of the EU and unify the United Kingdom and go ahead towards the future.

The winning Conservative leader stressed that the last election is a historic one.

The new government expresses respect for the British people and their steady democratic traditions to change the country for the better.

EU leaders have urged Boris Johnson to ensure clarity on Brexit “as soon as possible” as they vowed to protect their own economic interests in the trade talks ahead.

The president of the European council, Charles Michel, offered his congratulations to Boris Johnson, as he arrived at a summit of EU leaders on Friday.

He declined to predict whether the EU and UK could negotiate a trade relationship in eleven months, but said it was important to bring stability as soon as possible.

EU's 27 leaders learned of Johnson’s likely victory by reading the news on their phones when the exit poll was published on Thursday night, a moment of distraction from summit talks on Libya.

The group meets later on Friday to rubberstamp a well-trailed statement about the future relationship, which will restate that the UK must respect core EU standards on environment, worker protections, and state aid - to ensure a level playing field between EU and UK firms.

Belgium’s caretaker prime minister, Sophie Wilmès, said her country was “very much implicated” in trade with the UK, but stressed the EU had to deal with the UK as one bloc.
