Beethoven's Lock of Hair Auctioned off after 200 years

According to auction house Sotheby, a lock of Beethoven's hair was auctioned in Britain this week. The pre-auction was ranged between  $15,000 to $19,000.

The 19th century German composer gave the brown and grey strands to his friend, pianist Anton Halm as a gift for his wife in 1826

Beethoven's "indisputably human" lock

Another lock of his hair was sold at an auction in 1994.

This lock was cut off in 1827 by two enthusiasts after his death in order to know more about his poor health.
