53rd CIBF Details to Be Announced on Monday

General Egyptian Book Organization will organize a press conference for announcing the details of the upcoming edition of the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) next Monday. The press conference will be hosted at Al Manara International Conference Center.

The Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem previously announced that the upcoming edition of the 53rd CIBF will take place between 26th January and 7th February at Egypt International Exhibition Center.

Abdel Dayem added that CIBF activities would be back to their familiar season which is between the end of January and the beginnings of February with the forthcoming edition.

Regarding the theme of the 53rd CIBF, it will be held under the theme of "Egypt's Identity," and Greece was selected to be the Guest of Honor. In addition, the event will pay tributes to Yehia Haqy and Abdel Tawab Youssef.

It is worthy to mention that the previous edition of CIBF gained a new world record as the number of its visitors surpassed 1, 700,000 persons according to Dr. Haitham El Hagg, the Director of the Egyptian General Book Organization.

This number was almost less than the total number of visitors in the previous editions by 50%, however, it was the most visited cultural event since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.

The event kicked off on June 30, and it was opened to the public from July 1 to July 15, after it was postponed due to the situation of the pandemic in Egypt last year. on the other hand, all the book fair’s cultural activities of this year went virtually through the event’s digital platform.

Regarding the number of participants was 1218 publisher from 25 countries such as Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Russia, Spain, UK, US, Palestine, Japan, and Greece.
