31 Taliban militants killed in clashes with Afghan forces

The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced that 47 Taliban militants were killed and wounded during clashes that took place between the Afghan security and national defense forces and Taliban militants in Herat Province in western Afghanistan.

In a statement reported by Khaama Press, the ministry said that the security and national defense forces, backed by air forces, carried out a clearance operation in the Zawal area in Herat. It noted that 31 militants, including 5 leaders, were killed during the clashes and 16 other militants were wounded.

He stressed that during the security operation, the Afghan forces had acquired an AK-47 rifle, a Kalashnikov machine gun and two motorcycles.
