The festival will run from August 14 to 31, running for the first time for 18 consecutive days.
The concerts will be headlined by Egypt’s and Arab world’s talented singers.
Confirmed acts include Omar Khairat, Mohamed Mohsen, Medhat Saleh, Hisham Abbas, Ali El Haggar, Nawal El Zoghbi, Hany Shaker, Nesma Mahgoub, Lena Chamamyan, as well as bands Black Theama, Massar Egbari, and Wust El-Balad, among many others.
The festival is organized by Cairo Opera House and is held in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
“Cultural events and activities during the summer period aim to attract the largest number of audiences to reshape awareness and raise conscience, especially since the ticket price is within the reach of all Egyptian families and does not amount more than EGP 20,” Abdel Dayem stressed.
The minister added that the Salah El Din Citadel Festival is one of the well-established events and one of the most important forums organized by the Ministry of Culture.
She pointed out that the event had achieved huge popularity since its foundation in 1990 due to the richness and cultural diversity of the program.
Abdel Dayem noted that the activities feature performers that are compatible with plans to achieve cultural justice and contribute to the development of a sustainable society.
The festival will honor nine individuals who contributed to enriching the artistic scene in Egypt and the Arab world including late maestro Kamal Helal, violinist Dr. Mahmoud Othman, opera singer Mustafa Mohamed, and renowned poet Ibrahim Abdel-Fattah.
