Three people were confirmed dead in a shooting incident at the Maquoketa Caves Park Campground in Iowa early Friday, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

The Assistant of the pision's director Mitch Mortvedt didn't provide the names of the three victims, and the motive of the killings, but they were related.

After the shooting, everyone was evacuated from the park as it hosted a children's summer camp, then the body of an armed man was found.

Officials said: “He was known to be armed. That of course heightened our awareness as well,” Mortvedt said.

They added that Sherwin was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded area of the park, and he had no prior relationship with the victims.

It is worthy to mention that the US sees a rise in shooting incidents.

At least six people died and 24 were wounded in a shooting at a July Fourth parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park.

Highland Park Police Commander Chris O’Neill called on people to shelter in place when authorities search for the suspect, described as a white male wearing a white or blue T-shirt.

In the same vein, Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli stated at a news conference that the gunman apparently opened fire on parade-goers from a rooftop using a rifle that was recovered at the scene.

The parade started around 10 a.m. but it was suddenly halted about 10 minutes later after shots were fired. Police told people: “Everybody disperse, please. It is not safe to be here.”
