Here're Healthy Snacks for Kids to Enjoy during Fall

Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year with the falling leaves and yellowish colors, it is the perfect time to take your kids outside but don’t forget to pack your own homemade snacks. So, here are 3 healthy snacks for your kids to enjoy during the fall season:

Pumpkin hummus

  • Pumpkin Hummus

    • Ingredients:

    1 ½ cups of pumpkin puree.

    2 cups of canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed.

    3 cloves of garlic.

    The juice of one lemon.

    2 tablespoons of olive oil.

    1 tablespoon of honey.

    ½ a teaspoon of cumin.

     

    • Instructions:

    In a food processor, add the pumpkin puree, chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, honey, cumin, salt and pepper before blending on high speed till smooth.

     

    Garnish with some olive oil and pumpkin seeds before serving with some wholewheat crackers, baby carrots or roasted vegetables.

     

    Apple Cookies

    • Ingredients:

    1 apple.

    ¼ a cup of peanut butter.

    ¼ a cup of sliced almonds.

    ¼ a cup of coconut shreds.

    ¼ a cup of dark chocolate chips.

     

    • Instructions:

    Remove the core from the apple before slicing it into thin rings.

     

    Spread peanut butter over the apple rings before topping them with the almond slices, coconut shreds and dark chocolate chips. Then, Serve.

    Coconut + Pumpkin Seed Popcorn

  • Coconut + Pumpkin Seed Popcorn

    • Ingredients:

    4 to 6 cups of popped popcorn.

    2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil.

    2 tablespoons of coconut shreds.

    2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds.

    ¼ a teaspoon of turmeric.

    ½ a teaspoon of curry powder.

     

    • Instructions:

    In a sealable plastic bag, add the popcorn, coconut oil, coconut shreds, pumpkin seeds, turmeric and curry powder before sealing the bag closed.

     

    Shake everything together till well combined and serve!
