The 66-years-old king has been on the throne for more than two years before being crowned formally.

Shots were fired, the king wore his white royal outfit, was welcomed by Thai traditional music and the holy water was poured on his head as a symbol of  wishing him happiness.

Vajiralongkorn has also crowned himself by a multi-layer crown that weigh 7.3 kg and its length is 66 centimeters high.

This crown is called "Great Crown of Victory"; as it is made of gold, inlaid with diamonds and dates back to over 2 centuries ago.

Today, there will be a 7-kilometer royal procession in which the king will be carried on to visit four important temples and allow the public to pay homage to him.

In the late afternoon tomorrow, the last ceremony’s moments will be staged as the king will be greeting the public from the balcony of the Grand Palace, then holding a reception for the diplomatic corps.

It's worth mentioning that the king is known as  King Rama X and after the death of his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in October 2016 after seven decades on the throne, he became king of Thailand.

The ceremony’s overall cost is 31 million dollars and considered the first-of-its-kind in Thailand since 70 years.

The coronation ceremony is a mix of Buddhism and Hinduism traditions as residents of Thailand embrace  both religions.
