On Wednesday, 2024 Paris Olympics organizers will say their final world on the triathlon competitions after the men's individual competitions were postponed on Tuesday due to the pollution levels in the Seine.
Ahead with the competition, France invested more than a billion euro to make the Seine swimmable and the wastewater infrastructure to contain sewage and minimise spillage into the waterway.
Tuesday's men's race was postponed to Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. local time immediately after the women's event, which is scheduled for 8 a.m. that day.
The decision of organizing the event on Wednesday will be made after analyzing a sample taken on Tuesday at 5am, Paris 2024 organizers said, as well as a discussion between experts on overnight weather.
Tuesday's sample results are expected to be fine due to the dry weather on Tuesday, but overnight storms could have another opinion.
A World Triathlon spokesperson said other contingency dates as well as Friday were being discussed, in case the race cannot be held ahead on Wednesday.
A lot of factors will be taken into account when it comes to deciding the time of the event like weather.
