1st Suez Festival for Music, Singing Kicks off

On Friday, the first edition of the Suez Festival for Music and Singing kicked off. It is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Cairo Opera House, and the Suez Governorate.

Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, the Director of Cairo Opera House Magdy Saber, and the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled Al Anani participated in the event.

The events of the festival will take place on three days, and the schedule carries six various performances.

Veteran singer Hany Shaker headlined the opening ceremony of the festival, and the performance was conducted by Mostafa Helmi.

During the event, Abdel Dayem thanked Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly for his support to the ministry's activities for enhancing Egypt's soft powers, asserting that the cultural and arts activities have emerged nationwide.

Last week, the Ministry announced the details of the festival and the names of the participants in an official statement.

Abdel Dayem thanked Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly for his sponsorship of the festival and many other activities of the Ministry of Culture, which affirms the role of soft power in building society and developing awareness.

She added that all the parts of Egypt are witnessing a perse intellectual and artistic movement aiming to achieve cultural justice and spread enlightenment.

She confirmed that choosing Al- Suez National Museum to host the first edition of the festival – in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities- comes due to its unique artifacts that narrate part of Egypt’s ancient civilization, which is one of the sources of contemporary inspirations.

It is noteworthy that the program of the activities of the first edition of Al- Suez Festival for Music and Singing presents variety of artistic branches – 6 shows in 3 consecutive nights including :- Sohba Semsemiah Ensemble, a concert for the great artist Hani Shaker accompanied by the orchestra led by Maestro Mustafa Helmy, a show for the artist Nesma Abdel Aziz and her band.

It will also include a concert for the artist Ahmed Jamal and his band and concerts for the opera stars of the Arab music, Rehab Mutawa , Hasna , Walid Haider , Ashraf Walid and the singer Reham Abdel Hakim accompanied by the orchestra led by Maestro Ahmed Amer.
