1st Official Appearance of Omani Sultan's Wife (Photos)

Omani media published the first official photos of Ahed Bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidia, the wife of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, while honoring a number of women figures on the occasion of Omani Women's Day on Saturday.

The users of social media circulated videos and pictures of the Sultan of Oman's wife, while she was awarding the Order of the Royal Tribute to honorable women, yesterday, Saturday, at Al-Baraka Palace, in the state of Al-Seeb, near the Omani capital, Muscat.

The photos were attached to the hashtag #السيدة_الجليلة (Venerable Lady), who tops the list of the most circulated topics on the "Twitter" site in the Sultanate.

The medals were handed over by the Sultan's wife, who honored about 50 prominent Omani female figures in many fields in the country.

In her speech, she praised the role of women in Omani society, referring to the role of the late Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said.

“Sultan Qaboos devised the approach of empowering, honoring and appreciating the pioneering role of women," Oman’s first lady said.

1st Official Appearance of Omani Sultan's Wife- PhotosAhed also spoke about the efforts of workers to combat the novel coronavirus in the country, adding that "I can only record a certificate of pride for those standing like the Shamaa Mountains of Oman from various sectors on the front lines to confront the effects of the pandemic the Sultanate is going through.”

This is the first public appearance of the wife of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, since her husband's ascension to the rule of the Sultanate of Oman. 

Previously, she was only writing and issuing written statements.

It’s noteworthy that the Sultan had decided to honor a number of female figures on the occasion of Omani Women Day, while his wife handed over the medals.
