1st Direct Sharm El Sheikh-Luxor Flight in 6 Years Takes off

On Wednesday, the first direct flight between Sharm El Sheikh and Luxor in six years took off, authorities announced in an official statement. The flight took off at 7 o'clock am, and it carried 110 persons.

The trip will take passengers back to Sharm El Sheikh once again in the evening to give tourists time to continue their schedules in Egypt. In addition, it will create the opportunity for them to visit Luxor's breathtaking sites, and museums.

There will be a weekly direct Sharm El Sheikh-Luxor flight by EgyptAir. The price of the round-trip ticket is EGP 1800, including taxes.

Resuming those flights is part of Egypt's plan to strengthen its tourist services by combining the tourists' will to enjoy with beaches and other entertainment spots, and giving them the chance to visit several cultural and historical destinations in Egypt by connecting different Nile Valley cities by domestic flights.

It is worthy to mention that Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled Al Anani revealed in his latest meeting with the parliamentary committee on Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Information on Monday the news of resuming flights between the two cities.

He also highlighted that the goal of achieving this strategy is to advance the tourism and antiquities sectors in Egypt and make optimal use of the state’s tourism, natural, human and archaeological resources, work to ensure their sustainability, provide a distinct and advanced infrastructure and service in them to increase Egypt’s competitiveness.

The minister also indicated that more than 80 projects have been completed to restore, develop and secure antiquities.
