19 Russian Railroad Passenger Cars Arrive at Alexandria Port

On Sunday, Alexandria Port received a new batch of 19 third-class railroad passenger cars, dynamic-ventilated vehicles coming from the port of St. Petersburg in Russia. This came as a part of a deal to manufacture and supply 1,300 new passenger railway cars concluded by the Egyptian government.

The deal, signed by the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) and the Russian "Transmash" company, representing the Russian-Hungarian alliance, was worth 1billion and 16 million and 50 thousand euros.

The deal of 1,300 new cars includes 800 air-conditioned vehicles, 500 third-class air-conditioned vehicles, which are a new service that is offered to passengers for the first time in the history of Egyptian Railways. They also include 180 second-degree luxurious cars, 90 luxurious first-class cars band 30 air-conditioned buffet cars.

The deal contributes to raising the efficiency of the daily operation, and the regularity of operating schedules. The move aims to achieve a great leap and a huge qualitative shift in the level of service provided to the passengers.

It is noteworthy that all preventive and precautionary precautions against the Coronavirus pandemic were applied to the crew of the ship carrying the cars. The total number of passenger cars that Egypt received from the deal so far has risen to 227.
