15 EU countries have called on the European Commission to expedite the disbursement of urgent aid to Palestine.

The EU countries led by Ireland expressed their concerns about the continued delay in disbursing of the European Union's aid to Palestine for the year 2021 against the background of the funding conditions imposed by the commission, according to "Politico" newspaper.

On April 8, the 15 countries sent a letter to the European Commission, calling for accelerating the disbursement of aid to Palestinians.

The letter was signed by the foreign ministers of Ireland, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, the Greek Cypriot administration, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland and Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.

The 15 countries called to release the funding "as soon as possible because the Palestinian National Authority is in a difficult situation and is suffering from a severe financial crisis, further complicated by the inflation of oil and wheat prices due to the war in Ukraine.

In their letter, they noted that the European Commission's latest proposal to link aid with conditions does not have broad support among EU countries.
