LAFF to kick off its activities tonight

The earliest activities of the 10th Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) will kick off tonight with a round table discussion about cinema and technology.

The talk will be headed by Adli Toma, and it will see the participation of directors Amir Ramses, and Khaled El Hagar. In addition, veteran actors Mahmoud Himeda and Saad Hindawi will partake in the event.

International actor Jimmy Jean-Louis will participate as well in the event.

The talk will be extended to another round about the impact of the recent digital platforms on the cinema industry. It will be chaired by Ahmed Shawky, and it will see the participation of various filmmakers such as Khaled Ashour.

Kicked off on March 25, the festival selected Sudan as the 10th edition’s guest of honor to celebrate the history of the Sudanese cinema.

Five Sudanese films will be screened at LAFF including features, and documentaries that observe the progression of Sudanese cinema.

Moreover, the edition will pay a tribute to influential Sudanese leader Al Sadek El Mahdi.

“You Will Die at 20” is one of the displayed films directed by Amjab Abu Alala, and written by Abu Alala and Youssef Ibrahim.
