106 illegal migrants rescued off Libyan coast

The European humanitarian organization SOS Méditerranée has rescued a number of illegal migrants in the Mediterranean Sea in the international waters north of Libya.

The organization said in a press briefing, on Saturday that the migrant rescue ship “Ocean Viking” rescued 106 children, women and men from an overcrowded rubber boat in international waters, 34 nautical miles off the coast of Libya.

The organization added that a person lost consciousness and was transferred to the ship, and is now recovering, and many of the survivors were in severe distress.
