Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council, issued on Sunday directives to concerned officials to appoint 100 legally qualified women in the position of a notary public.
The directives come in the framework of facilitating judicial services for women and expanding their role in the Kingdom’s governmental justice sector.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Justice stated that the newly appointed women notaries will officially start their work next Sunday, November 1, with a specialized training program for a period of 3 months.
"For the first time, many qualified women have been recruited lately at the Justice Ministry, in the fields of law, Sharia, sociology, administration, and technology," the ministry added.
The program will be organized in cooperation with the Justice Training Center. They will also receive practical training at the ministry’s Agency for Documentation and Notaries.
Since 2018, Saudi women began obtaining notarization licenses to work in private notary departments at the ministry of justice.
