Were Pharaohs Experts in Cosmetic Applications?

CAIRO, Feb .19. (SEE) – Pharaohs' world surprises us everyday with new discoveries and exciting facts. Egyptian Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass, reported that the Egyptian scientific team studying the royal mummies confirmed that the pharaohs were not only advanced in the sciences of medicine and anatomy, but had reached high levels of scientific progress in the prosthetic devices branches as well as in cosmetic surgery and reform of deformities.

The Pharaohs could compensate the person who had undergone amputations with prostheses of wood and skin to help movement and balance of the body to practice his life normally.

Hawass said, "We made an ' advanced ''CT'' scan that can take thousands of photos of each part of the mummy without having to touch the mummy or unplug the mummy, such as; the golden pharaoh has been tested three times since using ''X - Ray'', but no one has discovered that there are facelifts performed on the king face which appear in the best picture of world."

The parts of the face were filled with some ''Resin'' materials that were placed under the skin to give the natural appearance. These operations were performed by skilled surgeons and using what is similar to injections under the skin as it is being used now in cosmetic operations.

The pharaohs were not limited to cosmetic surgery at this point, but the archaeological evidence confirms that they performed cosmetic and injections for the hands, arms, feet, nose, eyes and eyelids to preserve the body's vital appearance. They filled the pharynx in some mummies, to appear like the neck vitality such as ''Yuya'' mummy.

Hawass, believes that what we have learned about the cosmetic operations of the mummies will lead us to a wider area to know secrets of pharaonic beauty.
