CAIRO, Feb. 26 (SEE) - President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker breached the LAS-EU Summit's protocol when he answered a phone call during the press conference held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday.

Juncker's act sent its attendees into peals of laughter with his comment regarding the call that interrupted his speech.

"It was the usual suspect… my wife!" Juncker said after finishing the brief call and continuing his speech as if nothing happened.

The two-day summit kicked off on Feb. 24, gathering nearly 50 Arab and European leaders who discussed bilateral relations, fight against terrorism and security in the Middle East.

The head of the European Commission has repeatedly found himself in hilarious and weird situations over his actions, but this time he took an opportunity to use humor to wave off the awkward situation.

“The Summit is historical, not just because it is the first of its kind, but also because of the fruitful discussions that cover a wide array of topics and issues that have been discussed,” said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

In his speech, Sisi stated that “It has been our pleasure to provide the platform on which this summit and discussions took place,” explaining that this was a vital move forward and that enhancement of cooperative channels need to take place.

On his part, Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, said, it is time for us to work towards a closer relationship and to work together towards more positive results.

“As neighbors, we have no other option but to work together,” said Tusk. “Trade, security and climate change are amongst the two most important things for us to cooperate on."
