CAIRO, Jan.1 (SEE)- Volkswagen new power bank is designed for those situations where EVs need a quick burst of charge but are not in the vicinity of mains power supply.

There is also the possibility of connecting to the power supply directly allowing the station to be charged with up to 30 kW via alternating current by means of a permanent standard grid connection. This enables charging points for electric vehicles to be set up quickly and simply without any structural changes or major financial outlay.

The new power banks for electric cars is set to begin in the first half of 2019 in VW’s hometown of ''Wolfsburg'' in Germany, and new power bank will be rolled out to other cities and communities throughout 2020.

''Volks'' firm think that their new power bank could act as a mobile charging station being deployed in locations such as public car parks or as a temporary installation at large public events or festivals.

The firm reported that charging process only takes 17 minutes on average thanks to quick charging technology. If the energy content of the battery pack is less than 20 percent the depleted charging station is simply exchanged for a charged one. These stations can also be charged from renewable sources such as solar, wind energy therefore CO2-neutral mobility.
