Union of Arab Universities Expands Membership Base to Include Africa

The Union of Arab Universities held a meeting at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Union for the Board of Directors of the Arab European Network for the Training of University Leaders headed by the Secretary General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Network Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama.

During the meeting, Dr. Salama stressed the importance of the network and the role that it can play in a broader way to increase the skills and the modern managerial skills of the leaders of the educational institutions.

Salama explained that the Union is in the process of activating the network at the Arab and international level. Also, the Union will provide the available resources to support the network and work to achieve the desired objectives. In addition, to keep abreast of the rapid international developments in the field of the university administration.

On his part, Dr. Mohamed Lutfi, Vice-Chairman of the Network, discussed the establishment of the network launched in 2014 at the initiative of the Union of Arab Universities in cooperation with the European Universities Union, the British University Leadership Center and Cardiff Metro Polytechnic University. And scientific activities aimed at building the leadership capacities of university presidents.

At the end of the meeting, the members of the Council agreed to adopt the strategic plan of the network during the next five years 2019-2023 for the training of university leaders. The participants agreed upon the expansion of the membership base to include African universities as well as Arab and European universities.

The Board of Directors consists of a number of university presidents and experts from Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Bahrain, Morocco, Britain, Bulgaria, Italy, and Spain.
