WASHINGTON, Mar. 31 (SEE)-  U.S. President Donald Trump directed his government to cut aid to the Northern Triangle countries; El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

The ample surge of families fleeing the three countries to the United States, triggered Mr. Trump to accuse his southern neighbors of setting up migrant caravans heading north.

On Friday, Mr. Trump voiced his fury, at the Mar-a-Lago Hotel, over the “tremendous amounts of money” provided as aid to the three nations.

“And we’re not paying them anymore. Because they haven’t done a thing for us,” the CNN quoted Mr. Trump.

He even inveighed shutting his country’s southern border with Mexico, as soon as next week.

Accordingly, the State Department is now entitled to put the president’s directives into effect, ending assistance worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Though, the resolution will not be validated unless lawmakers give the green light, as a department spokesperson said, in a statement, that the process requires engaging the congress.

In the last two years, the United States designated $1.3 billions, backing developments in Central American countries, mainly allocated to the Northern triangle.
