WASHINGTON, Dec. 7 (SEE)- The chief economic adviser to the White House Larry Kudlow said on Friday that the arrest of Huawei's chief financial officer (CFO) Meng Wanzhou would not affect talks between Washington and Beijing.

Police have arrested the CFO in Canada due to allegations of violating US sanctions against Iran.

"China will not suspend trade deals with the US because of Huawei alone," Kudlow said.

He pointed out that US President Donald Trump may reconsider extending the 90-day trade truce with China if good progress was made during talks.

Trump's meeting with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping last week gave investors confidence that progress is being made in trade negotiations.

Kudlow's remarks came shortly after the US president said that trade talks with China were going "very well."
