“Human bodies are more vulnerable to lose weight during fasting time if compared to other normal days,” Dr. Saleh El –Faidy, a preventive medicine specialist and a professor at faculty of medicine, Benghazi University confirmed.

El –Faidy told (SEE) that people’s bad experiences regarding gaining much weight in Ramadan are mainly due to pursuing unhealthy regimes.

“After breakfast, people start consuming excess amounts of food at anytime which lead to disorder in the metabolism system besides causing glut, indigestion, fats accumulation and other health problems.

Scientifically, in order to enjoy a real weight-loss in the holy month of Ramadan, people should follow a healthy diet.

El –Faidy pointed out that people should start having breakfast by drinking from 2 to 3 cups of tepid water mixed with a small amounts of powder ginger , lemon juice and green mint, in order to increase metabolic rate.

“After that, they should directly eat 3 dates to adjust blood sugar level and resume their activity within maximum half an hour,” he added.

Salt is not preferred to be added or it can be used very sparingly as it stores water in the body and hinders the process of weight loss.

Drinking green tea or coffee should take place after eating by at least an hour.

With regard to the pre-dawn meal, the preventive medicine specialist urged people to follow a gradual eating process in sequence.

First of all, people should drink 2 cups of water, followed by a cup of zero fat yogurt mixed with ¼ tsp of powder flaxseed.
