Shoukry Meets Ethiopian Counterpart Over Renaissance Dam

ADDIS ABABA, Nov. 14 (SEE)- Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting on Wednesday with Ethiopian counterpart Workneh Gebeyehu to discuss the latest developments on Ethiopia's Renaissance Dam negotiations.

This came on the sidelines of the 11th African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit.

The two sides discussed means of strengthening bilateral relations and several other continental issues of common concern.

The meeting dealt with the means of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as efforts to establish the tripartite fund for development between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.

Shoukry stressed on the necessity of building on the success achieved at the first meeting held last July in Cairo.

He pointed out to the importance of harmonizing perspectives of the project's implementation procedures in accordance with the principles agreed on at the Cairo meeting.

Gebeyehu expressed interest in attaining appropriate means to progress with the three States' consultations within a limited period.

The Ethiopian Foreign Minister stressed his country's aspiration to work with Egypt and Sudan under the umbrella of the Development Fund to expand cooperation between the three countries.
