10 highest earning movies in the history of the Egyptian Box office

Eid movie season is coming, and what better way to promote the upcoming movies than mentioning the previous movies who excelled at the Egyptian box office.

Egypt had it's fair share of monumental block buster movies over the year, some movies out performed others, while some movies failed to live up the the hype that was built around them but one thing is for certain, The Egyptian cinema industry is the biggest in the Arab region and will continue to dominate the scene for years to come.

Presenting the top 10 highest earning movies in Egyptian cinema history.

1.) El Khalya "cell"

 

The film "The Cell" was shown in the 2017 Eid al-Adha season, and although it was released among a large number of films, it has produced the highest revenues in the Egyptian Cinema Industry

 

After three months of its performance, it reached a new record, making it the highest revenue in the history of Egyptian cinema, earning revenues of LE 53 million and 890 thousand.

 

2) Horoob Edterary "forced escape" 2017

Ahmed El Sakka's "Forced Escape" competed in the 2017 film festival, and his revenues rose significantly day after day.

 

Since it's release in the theaters, the film the has attracted about half of the total revenue for the Eid al-Fitr films.

 

The film witnessed a steady and steady public demand, which brought it an average daily income of about 600 to 700 thousand pounds per day.

 

The Movie achieved revenues of LE 47 million and ranked second.

 

3) Laf We Dawaran "Spinning and Circling " 2016

Ahmed Helmy's film which was released in 2016, generated a total revenue of LE 43,277,037.

 

The Movie was shown during the Eid al-Adha season in 2016. Ahmed Hilmi participated in the project with Donia Samir Ghanem, Bayoumi Fuad, Jamila Awad and Sabreen.

 

The film's story is a comedy centered around the role of Egyptian women, and about social relations between people, through a person who works as a tour guide, and is exposed to a number of positions, and comic paradoxes.

 

4) El Gezyra 2 "Island 2" 2014

 

Al-Jazeera 2 ranked 4th on our list, the is the movie second for Ahmed Al-Sakka to feature on the list, with 35,132,780 Egyptian pounds.

 

"Al Jazeera 2" is the second part of the film "Al Jazeera", which was shown in 2007, directed by Sharif and starring Ahmed Al Sakka, Hind Sabri, Khalid Saleh and Khaled Al Sawi. The story of the film is inspired by the true story "The Story of Izzat Hanafi".

 

5) "Hell in India" 2016

 

The fifth place on the list of the film "Hell in India" starring Mohammed Adel Imam for 32,166,584 pounds.

 

The Movie starred Mohamed Adel Imam Yasmin Sabri and Bayoumi Fuad and was produced by Zain Kurdi and directed by Moataz al-Tuni,

 

The film revolves around a comedy framework where special forces are assigned to rescue the Egyptian ambassador in India after his abduction. Special Forces.

 

6) The Blue Elephant 2014

The Blue Elephant, which was shown in 2014, generated a total revenue of 31,395,445 pounds ranking 6th in the list of the highest revenues in Egyptian cinema.

 

"The Blue Elephant" is a drama and mystery film directed by Marwan Hamed and written by Ahmad Murad and starring Karim Abdel Aziz, Nelly Karim, Khaled Al Sawi and Darin Haddad.

 

7) World War III 2014

Came in sixth place on the list of the film "World War III" starred by Hisham Majid and Ahmed Fahmy and Chico, where he earned revenues of 30,675,474 Egyptian pounds.

 

The film revolves around a young man (Ahmed Fahmy) visiting the museum one night, but when the clock is ticked at 12 am, the museum goes back to life. Tutankhamun awakens from his stupor, and with him (Hitler), Dracula, (Hulaku) and (Aladdin), (Hitler) in partnership with (Abu Lahab) to restore their glory to occupy and declare war on the world, and it is up to Ahmed Fahmy to prevent them and address them

 

 

 

 

 

8) X-LARGE 2011

The 8th place is the film "X-Larg" by Ahmed Hilmi, which was released 2011 total revenues of 30,226,320 Egyptian pounds.

 

"X-Larg" is a social comedy film starring Ahmed Hilmi, Donya Samir Ghanem, Ibrahim Nasr and directed by Sherif Arafa, dealing with the tragedy of a young painter suffering from excessive obesity and the problems he has in marrying his loved one because of being overweight.

 

9) Tesbah Ala Kheir.

The Movie stars Tamer Hosny as a successful engineer, but decides to change his life through trying a dream machine which drives him into an alternate reality.
