Preps. Underway For Wedding of Youngest Granddaughter of King Farouk in Monaco

CAIRO, Jan. 19 (SEE) - Last minutes preparations are underway in Monaco for the wedding of Princess Fawzia, youngest granddaughter of King Farouk I of Egypt.

Princess Fawzia-Latifa was born in Monte Carlo, Monaco, in 1982 to a French mother, Dominique Franck Picard. She is the middle daughter of King Ahmed Fouad II, the last monarch of Egypt.

The Princess is currently working in the field of media and public relations and she’s previously served in the diplomatic mission of Monaco to Austria.

The Princess worked in the private sector in Egypt when she lived in Cairo for a while.

Worth noting is that King Farouk, after 1952 revolution, was granted the Monégasque citizenship from Rainier III, Prince of Monaco. At that time, Crown Prince Ahmed Fouad II, was six months old. A year later, the monarchy was abolished and the republic was declared.

King Ahmed Fouad II grew up in France and married a French woman who converted to Islam and was given the Arabic name Fadila. They had three children, two princes and a princess. The marriage didn’t last long. After their porce, King Ahmed Fouad moved to Switzerland.

Sources close to the former royal family reported that attendance to Princess Fawzia-Latifa’s wedding will be limited to family members and close friends.

According to BBC, the Princess will marry  an electronic French engineer who works in the Principality of Monaco.
