Opera organizes singing, violin competitions

CAIRO, AUG 23 (SEE)- Chairman of the Egyptian Opera House Magdy Saber announced on Wednesday organizing three competitions in the field of singing and violin, as part of the Arab music festival in its 27th edition from November 1-15.

Saber said that the first competition will include contestants between the ages of 17 and 35. Each will perform two songs, one from Arab heritage and the second of their choice.

"The second competition will include violin skills; "Contestants will perform a song of the committee's choice and another of their own," Festival director Jehan Morsi added.

The Opera House has allocated prizes for the first three winners. The first prize is EGP 15 thousand, the second is EGP 12 thousand, and the third is EGP 10 thousand.

The Opera House also organizes a singing competition for children aged 6-14 in which the contestant should perform a traditional song and another song of their choice.

The first winner will receive a prize of EGP 7 thousand, the second 5 thousand and the third 3 thousand.

In the closing ceremony of the festival, the first winner from both categories will perform one song in the concert.
