CAIRO, Feb. 16 (SEE) -

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that Egypt is seeking to express

the interests of the African peoples and their need to achieve stability and

progress.

In his speech at the

main session of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Sisi added that the

conference is held this year amid growing challenges and dangers including the

continuation of tension and conflict at the international level and the spread

of terrorism and extremism along with increasing rates of crime.

These challenges would

undermine national institutions and pose danger to the stability and security

of peoples, added Sisi.

The president underlined

the necessity of working to enhance international efforts for confronting these

challenges.

Sisi also stressed the

importance of confronting illegal migration, noting that Egypt foiled all

illegal immigration attempts since 2016.

Palestinian Issue Essential

for Mideast Peace: Sisi

The Palestinian issue

is at the root of the instability plaguing the Middle East, the Egyptian president

told world leaders attending the MSC2019.

Leaders at the

conference included German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US Vice President Mike

Pence and Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.

Sisi urged the

international community to consolidate its efforts to further a two-state

solution.

“It is the right of

the Palestinians to build a state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem

as its capital,” Sisi said.

Sisi’s

Participation Crucial: MSC2019 Chairman

Chairman of Munich

Security Policy Conference Wolfgang Eichinger said that the participation of

Egyptian President Sisi in the conference this year is crucial for reshaping

partnership between Europe and Africa.

He added while

presenting president Sisi to deliver a speech at the main session of the

conference, that the participation of president Sisi, the head of the African

Union along with the Romanian president, the head of the European Union is

historic.

He noted that relations between the two sides need to be changed so that they would reach strategic partnership for confronting the dangers of terrorism and achieving economic growth.
