LONDON, Dec. 14 (SEE)- Egypt's football star Mohamed Salah was named the African Footballer of the Year in a BBC poll.

Up to 650,000 voted at the poll this year.

The list included Moroccan Medhi Benatia of Juventus, Senegalese Sadio Mané of Liverpool, Napoli's defender Khalido Coulibaly and Ghana's Thomas Party of Atletico Madrid.

Salah won the award for the second time in a row to be the second player in the African continent to receive the award for two successive years since its launch in 1992.

Nigerian Jay-Jay Okocha won the award in 2003 and 2004.
