Minister of Antiquities escorts ministers and ambassadors to visit Minya

CAIRO, Feb. 1 (SEE) –Minister of Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani, along with Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat and Governor of Minya governor Qassem Hussein took on Friday ambassadors and cultural advisors of 11 foreign countries in an archaeological tour to remarkable sites in Minya Governorate. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Minia University President Mustafa Abdel-Nabi and house representatives of the governorate also accompanied the delegation.

The tour included visits to Tell el-Amarna, and Minya museum, which is located on the banks of the Nile.

The delegation visited the cemetery of the great priest of the god Aton Mari Ra I, and the cemetery of the supervisor of grain and cattle Banhsi.

They also visited the Beni Hassan area, which was named after one of the Arab tribes that inhabited the area. They visited the tomb of Khety and the tomb of Khanom Hattab.

The visit to the Minya Museum project was the last leg of the tour, where the delegation inspected the latest developments works being carried out.

Last November, the German Parliament approved a grant of 10 million euros to complete the third and fourth phase of the museum, which have been halted since 2010.

The tour came on the sidelines of the announcement of the first archaeological discovery in Minya this year, which will be held on Saturday.
