BERLIN, Jan. 14 (SEE) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel thanked on Monday all who helped in removing snow blocks from the snow-covered Bavarian Alps in Germany, the chancellor spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

The snow fell over the past days over Bavaria and other areas in the Alps region which cause mass disruption and several snowfalls that hindered the traffic and the daily life of the citizens.

The Cars and houses were completely buried underneath the snow. Hundreds of flights have been canceled due to the extreme weather.

The German army interfered into the matter on a wide range and evacuated many of people from being trapped in the snow using their helicopters.

The authorities warned the citizens of going to the forests after a nine-year-old boy had been killed by a falling tree.

Merkel offered her condolences over the little boy's death.
